New Members take Oath in Rajya Sabha today

Newly elected Members of Rajya Sabha have taken oath on Tuesday in presence of Rajya Sabha Chairman & the Vice President and Chairman, Shri M. Hamid Ansari in the Parliament House.

These five members represent the State of Gujarat, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The oath ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri P.J. Kurien, the Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Arun Jaitley and the Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

Out of the 57 seats of Rajya Sabha falling vacant, polls were held for 27 seats while 30 members were elected to the upper house without any election.
